The Pre-Surgical Society at UMD aims to initiate and accelerate our member's interest in a surgical career with exposure to various activities. Our society will enable members to dive into medicine at a fathomless level than other traditional undergraduate clubs and societies. With events featuring surgeons of all specialties, extremely qualified physicians, panels, workshops, field trips, and social events, the Pre-Surgical Society will strive to develop and accelerate an individual’s passion for surgery and medicine altogether. Further opportunities incorporate but are not limited to blood drives and the viewing of surgical procedures. Students may also have access to research alongside surgeons, shadow various physician specialties, and connect with students undergoing medical school and residency. The Pre-Surgical Society will strive to create a close-knit environment and allow students to connect with fellow peers with similar career interests. Our goal is to ensure the inclusion of anyone, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, and interests. We will serve as a developmental society on our valued members’ journey to a surgical career.
